Rapid microbiological methods developed and patented by MycoMeter ApS are based on a quantification of microbial enzyme activities by use of a highly sensitive fluorescence technology. The enzyme activities are measured by use of synthetic enzyme substrates. Cleavage of the substrates by the enzymes, releases a highly soluble compound that upon excitation produces an intense fluorescence. The fluorescence is measured using a hand held fluorometer.

The analyses can be performed on site in less than one hour.
