Applications

The Mycometer®-test can be applied both on surfaces, in air or through bulk samples.

Surface
Surface samples are used in building inspections to document the presence or absence of mold growth on surfaces. Differentiate between staining from fungal and non-fungal sources. Because mold growth is not always visible to the naked eye, surface samples can help delineate mold growth and thereby help define the scope of work for mold remediation projects. In post remediation assessment, surface samples are used to document successful cleaning of surfaces that previously contained mold growth

Air
Air samples may be used to document high levels of mold in the air and therefore indicate a mold problem. Sampling on different locations in a building may give information on location of the mold source. Air samples can also be used for final clearance testing. The Mycometer®-test allows the consultant to have the results while still being on site.

Bulk samples
When analyzing porous materials for mold, the vast majority of mold is often inside the material. In such cases it is more useful to evaluate material or bulk samples than just surface samples. The bulk samples are weighed and then simply put into the enzyme substrate solution instead of a swab. The time of analysis is the same as with swab samples. The results are given as fluorescence counts per mg material.

Relevant materials for bulk sampling are e.g.
Pil (blå)Rigid fibrous glass duct liner
Pil (blå)Insulation material
Pil (blå)Rockwool – Glasswool
Pil (blå)Ceiling Tiles
Pil (blå)Sheetrock - Drywall – Pulpwood, MDF, Anderson Board, OSB)
Pil (blå)Plaster – Mortar - Concrete
Pil (blå)Fabrics – Carpets
