Analysis

Three simple steps:

1. The bacteria from a water sample are collected on a membrane filter
    
   
2. Enzyme substrate is added and the filter unit is incubated for 10-30 minutes. Bacterial enzyme reacts with the substrate forming a fluorescent product.
   
   
3. The amount of bacteria in the water sample is estimated by measuring the concentration of the fluorescent product formed during the incubation.
